LOTUS

image.jpg
unnamed.jpg

The Lotus is a symbol of beauty, purity and divinity throughout history and all over the world. Vedic Indians, Tibetan and South Indian Buddhists, Japanese and Koreans,

all chose the Lotus as an auspicious and divine symbol

I take the Lotus as a symbol of my writings and like the Buddhists,

not only because of the elevating attributes associated with the image,

but because this beautiful Lotus flower, which blooms in the air

and floats on the waters of the world

. . . is rooted in the mud.

Inspired by this understanding,

I try to integrate the whole flower of life: gross, subtle, causal and transcendent -

root, mud, water, air and light . . .

Creation

Lord Vishnu sleeps on the great snake Sesa, surrounded by Lotuses

While Lakshmi massages his feet

A Lotus arises from his navel

Brahma, appears on the lotus and tries to create the worlds.

He cannot . . .

Brahma surrenders/falls into meditation, goes back into the source, then arises again, and all creation proceeds from this
